Paternity Testing
As many as 1 in 10 people have some doubt about who
their biological father is. Testing for paternity as early as
possible will help bring peace of mind sooner, and save a
child from future confusion and anxiety. At Life Quest, we
provide the answers to paternity and other life altering
questions quickly, painlessly, and compassionately.
Resolve these important issues:
• Child support and custody
• Relationship testing to obtain social security benefits
• Ensuring correct parental consent for adoption
• Reuniting relatives separated by adoption
• Family reconstruction or genealogy research
• Twin testing – identical or fraternal?
• Immigration or citizenship determination
• Establishing medical history
What is DNA Paternity Testing?
Paternity Testing simply means establishing fatherhood. Everyone
is born with a unique genetic blueprint known as DNA
(DeoxyriboNucleic Acid). Because DNA is passed down from the
mother and father to a child, DNA Identification provides a
conclusive way to determine biological relationships.
Consequently, DNA testing has become the most accepted method
to determine identity within the legal and scientific communities.
Peace of Mind
Our ultimate mission is to provide you peace of mind, a
commitment that extends beyond providing the results of a
scientific test. We understand the emotional and personal nature
of your situation. If the first test is exclusionary, we’ll continue to
work with you until paternity is established. If you or your family
needs counseling or legal assistance, we can help you get it.
How accurate are the results of DNA testing?
We are associated with a laboratory that has highly trained staff
with years of molecular biology and forensic DNA casework
experience, all dedicated to quality control and reliability. The
testing laboratory is accredited by the American Association of
Blood Banks (AABB), the National Forensic Science and
Technology Center (NFSTC) and thus complies with Quality
Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Laboratories as
issued by the Director of the FBI. The laboratory uses the most
advanced and powerful method of DNA testing available today, with
results accepted by courts in the U.S. and abroad. Using this
technology, if the DNA of the alleged father and child matches, the
probability that he is the biological father is typically 99.999%.
Conversely, if there are mismatches between the DNA of an
alleged father and child, he is 100% excluded from being the
biological father. The utmost attention to quality is imperative
because our results have a profound impact on your life. We
recognize the importance of producing the highest quality results
possible, and we stand behind all our tests with a 100% accuracy
guarantee.
At what age can testing be performed?
Testing with the non-invasive cheek swab can be done at any age,
beginning at birth. Prenatal testing can also be performed from
about the ninth week of pregnancy using physician-assisted
procedures.
Who should be tested?
Ideally the mother, child, and alleged father should be tested.
While you will receive accurate results without the mother’s
sample, we recommend that the mother be tested if possible. We
coordinate sample collections, even if the parties reside in different
cities. Tests involving missing or deceased individuals are also
possible using a variety of samples.
